Zavier Borja

 

About Zavier

A first-generation Mexican-American, Zavier grew up in Madras, Oregon. His passions include serving his community and his family, and getting outdoors! Zavier has worked for various youth programs for the past decade, including the Boys and Girls Club of Bend, Bend Parks and Recreation District, and Education Outside in San Francisco. Most recently, he worked for Bend-La Pine School District, as a Mentor Specialist for at-risk youth at Summit High School. In 2019, he created a local chapter of the nationally recognized non-profit Latino Outdoors, here in Central Oregon. From that, he was able to make connections with local outdoor partners and stakeholders in order to work in a collaborative manner to create Vámonos Outside.

Zavi is very involved civically within the community he is a part of by serving as a board of director for a handful of organizations that include; the Latino Community Association, Heart of Oregon Corps, Strengthening Central Oregon PAC (SCOPAC), City Club, and recently elected to the Bend Parks and Recreation District. Lastly, Zavi was able to be a part of the Governor's Task Force - Road Map to the Outdoors and Travel Oregon’s Outdoor Recreation Network.

Zavi earned his B.A. in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox and was able to Co-Pilot an OSU program, Outdoor Leadership Certificate and Outdoor leadership & Economics. Currently, he works for the City of Bend as the Community Relations Manager.

He enjoys Thump as a warm, friendly environment to connect with people & his community.
